Australia Board Games

Since we were studying Australia ( and I needed a project for my first quarter) I had my students to create their own board game. Based off of the continent/country/island of Australia. They had to have rules, procedures, and pieces of their game. They had to present it to the class with how to play. Some were REALLY nice and creative.IMG_4647 IMG_4652 IMG_4635 IMG_4636 IMG_4637

These are some of my favorite board games they created!

Ms. Leopard Print Cupcake

I want to just take a few minutes and introduce myself. I am a 6th grade teacher in Southern Florida. This is my first full year teaching 6th grade. I came last year in January ( that was rough) I use to teach 1st grade in Ohio, but it was WAAAAAAAAY too  cold there. I really like my school and principal. It’s truly been a blessing coming here. I moved to Florida last August with no job. Just a little bit of faith. I took that leap and it paid off. Not without some struggles of course. I started subbing and the teachers I subbed for were impressed.. ” You’ve done this before haven’t you?”… yes… yes I have. When I left Ohio I was completely DONE with teaching… I didn’t want to see another child under the age of 25. . . apparently I was running like Jonah. I still ended up teaching. This is going to be an AWESOME YEAR!!!!

6th grade TEAM WORK!!!

Once again this first week of school I did a team building activity. Students were put into groups and were to build the tallest free standing structure using just tape and 7 balloons ( I gave them each an extra balloon just in case one popped… yes they could use the extra one in their structure). I gave them 20 minutes to accomplish this project as a team! This one was just as interesting as the spaghetti and marshmallow structure project.

Try it with your class. Lot’s of fun…

Oh also I had them moan in advance about their groups… if they decided to moan after I called out the groups they would have to sit out with THEIR HEAD DOWN ( bc they obviously can’t handle being in 6th grade)… and yes I had one to moan, and yes they sat out for the entire project.

Students need to learn early to show kindness to their classmates!
